Powering Your Heating Loads
Solar electric systems are well suited to powering motors, lighting,
electronic devices and similar equipment. Electric ranges, water and /
or space heating are extremely expensive to operate with solar cells. Solar
space and water heating can be accomplished in most climates using thermal
panels specially designed for air or water heating. For cooking, water
heating and in many cases refrigeration, propane or natural gas is often
the best choice.
Small cooking apliances such as toasters and microwave ovens generally
are not a problem even though they are large loads, because they operate
for such short periods of time that their overall impact is minimal.
